About Me

I was born in Denmark but have lived with my family in Scotland for years and love the people, culture and the nature here; I consider Scotland my home.

I am fortunate to be is from a musical family and have always had music in my life in some way or another.

Initially, I played the flute and piano at the conservatoire in Denmark.

With the flute, singing, piano, and percussion, I have been involved in loads of different music such as teaching the flute and piano, as musical director at children’s theatre, children’s carnivals and children’s bands, as well as choirs and accompanying children singing. Apart from my other musical instruments, I have always had a great love for singing and been a member of many different kinds of choirs.

Later, I changed fully to singing and got a degree in singing from the Church Music School in Løgumkloster, Denmark, whilst working as a liturgical singer at services, weddings, and funerals. After moving to the UK, I also obtained an ARSM diploma in classical singing.

Apart from classical, I also sing a lot of other styles. Please, check out my YouTube channel to hear for yourself. I frequently post new content there. 🙂

I am currently a student at Complete Vocal Institute (Copenhagen) where I have just finished the first out of three years to become a licensed CVT (Complete Vocal Technique) teacher.

CVT is a comprehensive and research-based study in voice health. We learn how to perform all possible sounds with the human voice in a healthy way.

Many people have been made to believe that the western classical way of singing is the healthiest but that is a myth! All sounds can be made in a healthy way; if only, you know how!

I am keen on assisting singers from all musical genres and of all ages to develop their unique voices and interests. CVT is different than most other music tuitions because we don’t teach taste; only technique. This way, the singer is in charge and the teacher is only a helper; not a master!

I love this student-led approach. It is so much more fun to teach when the student is free to develop his or her own style!

I offer one initial lesson for free so you can see if it is the right fit for you.

Looking forward to working with you!

Lise

I CAN HELP YOU WITH THE FOLLOWING

Lessons can cover the following core areas…

Lessons can be either online via zoom or in person in my studio in Kirkcald

If you prefer online lessons, I recommend you use a computer and a good microphone however, I am happy to help you whatever your conditions.

Please, make sure you have installed Zoom on your device prior to the first lesson.

It is also important to be able to see each other clearly so it is important that your camera is working.

Lessons are £33 for 50 minutes or £23 for 30 minutes.

I offer one lesson of 40 minutes for free so that you can see if it is the right fit for you first.

You might want to bring a song with digital accompaniment for your first lesson; or something you would like to work on. I can also find songs for you but I prefer if you decide what you want to work on as you know your voice and taste the best.

I use the CVT pedagogy so you are in charge of your own lesson!

I am there to help you become the best singer possible; only you knows what that sounds like and what you would like to achieve.

About CVT

CVT Stands for Complete Vocal Technique.

As the title suggests, CVT aims at making all the possible sounds the human voice can produce in a healthy way. Many singers have been made to think sounds like distortion, growls, and many other sounds associated with non-traditional classical styles of singing are unhealthy. This is true if performed in an unhealthy way; however, this is true about all sounds; including western classical.

Newest Research

CVT was started and developed by Cathrine Sadolin who struggled to sing as a child due to severe asthma. Cathrine Sadolin set out on the very comprehensive quest to fully understand the human voice in its entirety. This quest is still undergoing, even though we have come a long way.

Cathrine Sadolin first realised that the voice has four ‘gears’ and these ‘modes’ have different sounds and characteristics. She and her team of voice specialists, doctors, speech and language therapists, etc, still continually make new groundbreaking research.

CVT is based on and constantly developing the newest research in voice health and the greatest voice community in the world with the same terminology. The CVT mantra is that every sound should have one term and every term should only have one meaning. Years of misunderstandings and many hours of wrong practise and many voices could have been saved if only singers had a shared terminology like most other sciences have.

Also, everything should be concrete and simple to understand. CVT aims at explaining everything concerning the voice with technically and anatomically correct terms. Singing tuition has traditionally been based on subjective sensations or images instead of research. We believe that approach is outdated and inefficient.

Student-led

I am currently a student at Complete Vocal Institute (Copenhagen) at the three year course to become a licensed CVT instructor. I have just finished the first year. The study is as much in pedagogics as it is in singing. In my life, I have encountered many different singing and teaching approaches; CVT is different in a number of ways.

CVT different than most other schools of thought in the way that it is student-led and we aim at equality between singer and coach.

All sounds have equal importance and the job of the coach is not to teach taste (unless specifically asked to do so) but to help the singer reach his or her goals both technically and artistically.

When having your first lesson, the singer in encouraged to bring a song or phrase to work on. The coach can help find songs but we prefer if the singer does as they are in charge of their own development and knows best what is of importance to them.

Emergency Aid

All singers get vocal problems from time to time. Wrong technique can result in uncontrolled constriction where the vocal cords can’t vibrate freely and are, therefore, prevented in working in the right way. This can result in strain on the voice and hoarseness.

Some get vocal nodules and might even need surgery or prolonged vocal rest. Unfortunately, the vocal problems return again after surgery or voice rest if the bad habits persist.

Most vocal problems can be cured or at least lessened with the right use of voice. At CVT, we specialise in helping singers who suffer from vocal problems.

With specialised methods, involving support work and SOVT exercises, we help singers get their voices back and prevent the vocal problems from returning.

Many singers have regained their voices and been able to perform concerts or studio recordings due to the thorough CVT emergency aid program.

Even though I am not a licensed CVT instructor yet, I am trained in how to perform the emergency program and have seen how it works wonders in my singers; just as I have also felt the benefit of in myself.
